If I understand correctly, the top fuel pipes are designed for turbos with stock housings like sport 500s. From my searches, I have discovered that there seems to be an issue/debate with 2.5" pipes not providing enough backpressure for the turbo seals on stock and sport 500 turbos, especially when test pipes are involved(as in the top fuel kit). It seems safe to assume that a 2.25" pipe would be more restrictive and thus provide additional backpressure for the turbos. Its true, certain turbos might be too restricted with the top fuel set up, but others might actually benefit from its restrictive nature.
